About the event

Parents, grab your child, a fishing rod, a snack and a cold drink and head over to your nearest pond, lake, or canal for a morning of freshwater fishing. The more the merrier!

Registrants will receive an official tape measure at our Little Fishers’ Anglers Meeting, date t/b/d the week prior to the date of the tournament. Use the tape measure provided to measure each fish caught by your child. Send ONE (1) picture of your longest catch of the day via WhatsApp chat to our chairman, Luke Savage, at (305) 205-7482 between the hours of 7am to 2pm on the day of the tournament. Remember to release your fish after you measure and photograph! Awards will be announced after 2pm the day of the tournament at St. John Neumann Catholic School at the Hook, Dock & Rock Party.

Rules and Regulations

Entry Fee

  • FRESHWATER Tournament fee(s):               
    • $100.00 for ONE PARENT and ONE CHILD
    • $150.00 for ONE PARENT and TWO CHILDREN
    • $175.00 for ONE PARENT and THREE CHILDREN
    • Additional children can be added for $25 each
  • ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

Registration

  • All entries must be received by 9 PM Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, to be eligible for the tournament.

Eligible Participants

  • All SJN School parents, parishioners, and friends.

Eligible Fish

  • Any fish caught by your child in a Miami-Dade pond, lake, or canal! We encourage your child to keep baiting and tossing that line back in the water – you never know when the big one will bite!

Fishing Hours

  • Any starting hour on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, until 2pm. Only fish caught during these hours will count toward the weigh-in. Remember, please send a picture of your biggest catch of the day between 7am and 2pm.

Official Weigh Station

  • Each team will be given an official measuring tape with their registration. Once the fish is caught, measure it with the official measuring tape and send a picture of your longest catch of the day via text to Luke via WhatsApp at (305) 205-7482. The parent or child that is registered must be in the picture with the fish, along with a clear view of the measuring tape showing the total length of the fish, to show that it is yours. The text must be received by 2 pm to be considered. Texting open from 7 am to 2 pm only.

Bait

  • No restrictions (live bait is acceptable).

Tackle

  • All fish must be caught on rod and reel. Wire lines are permitted. No electric fishing reels.

Location

  • Any freshwater location in Miami-Dade, i.e., lake, canal, pond, etc.

Weather

  • This event is an at-will tournament and will not be rescheduled due to weather.

Awards

  • Longest measured fish, measured using official measuring tape and appropriately photographed as required herein, will win first prize. Prizes for second and third place will be awarded in accordance with these rules for the second and third longest measured fish.
  1. First Prize: $300
  2. Second Prize: $200
  3. Third Prize: $150

Miscellaneous – Prize money may vary and is dependent upon on the number of participants entered. Parent and child must be present at St. John Neumann Catholic School on May 20th, 2023, after 2pm, to win an award.
